In the meantime was created on a cold and very windy sunset mid-winter on Muizenberg beach. I felt extremely lucky to catch this pink sunset mid-winter. It was freezing and the wind was so strong I had to kneel low down on the concrete along the wave breaker to try stay a little protected. I named this project In the Meanwhile because as I attempted to set up my tripod for my camera it broke! So I ended up photographing these with a long exposure, panning the camera from side to side very slowly, balanced in both of my hands. 

I thought to myself at the time that in the meanwhile I could photograph the beautiful sunset without a tripod. I was so impressed with the results I decided to print the photographs on archival paper. The painterly effect of this series is most beautiful when printed at a large scale.
